With this shut-off valve attached it's not to difficult to imagine that this hydrant must be used for rather ordinary purposes.

I think the image would have lost something with a regular blue sky (I probably wouldn't even have taken it without the clouds that day), but then, I'm not really sure exactly why I like this photo, given as I remarked to Mary, that the subject is mundane and perhaps even trivial.
