This dog was tied up outside a store in Rockport, Texas, while his owner was inside talking to the shopkeeper. He was sort of schizophrenic, feeling threatened perhaps, and growling, when people first approached, but seemed to be mellow and gentle once he saw me talking to his owner about taking his picture. This was the first time out with my new DLSR. The image is a little soft for my taste; and the dog's black coat fooled my metering and nearly blew out some of the highlights on the bricks. Now I always shoot with the histogram showing.

wow, such cute one. I have a smaller version of him, way smaller. But he is so cute and adorable. The picture is little shaky but that balances off with this cute dog with his "Lone Star" collar. An BTW camera EXIF is missing, what was that DSLR?

@Amir: My dog is a lot bigger --a Great Dane-- so this one is like a little puppy to me.
This shot was taken several months ago right after I got my Nikon D80. I had the ISO set too low for the evening light and it produced a shutter speed on the low side, but that might have been ok if I'd been braced. The EXIF data is missing because the highlights in the brick faces adjacent to the dog were blown out, and to fix this I ran the image through Photomatix --which apparently strips this data from the file (sort of makes sense, as it is combining different exposures).
