I was going to explore the benefits of hdr in particular images but I decided to go with this building shot instead. This building is vertically modest with reasonable proportions in its dimensions. On the other hand, it has the appearance of a black monolith, like something out of 2001 Space Odyssey. It's an oil company building, so the question it seems to be asking is: why this style, and moreover, why this color? Does it represent black gold, or black hearts?

@MaryB: Thank you. There's no telling what I missed going on around me as I walked around the city looking at the tops of tall buildings.
Excellent!

@Ralf Kesper: Thank you. I left several comments on your blog, selectively as it turns out, because if I commented on every photo that impressed me I'd be commenting all day.
