I'm posting this one either very early or very late. I didn't really have any photos ready that said "Halloween," but I felt motivated tonight after watching the documentary, "Stanley Kubrick: A Life in Pictures," so I went for a drive to see what I could see. There weren't all that many houses decorated for Halloween. Where there were decorations, they were generally small, or of the type that won't photograph well. The best decoration I saw looked like a giant snow globe with bats swirling around a haunted house, but the effect could only really be communicated in a video. I got home, downloaded, even updated my Nikon NX software, and processed a couple of candidates. So here I am --come round again. It's either very late or very early for posting, but there's not much point in waiting until after breakfast.

Today I was listening to my usual radio station, NPR. They were talking about how events such as Halloween has created a nation full of kiddos and infant/child minded adults. According to center for statistics report "7.5 million American are expected to spend $100 on their pet's Halloween gear" and that "50% of American will spend some money to decorate their spooky house one way or another".

The image is very fitting to the occasion. This house looks to be very small and Louisiana like. If you know what I mean...

@Amir: Here's what I said to FC in response to his post today: Whatever its roots, Halloween is really just another commercial sales gimmick. Without a traditional gimmick to exploit in October, something would just have been invented, like Mother's Day or Father's Day.
I don't listen to the radio, not even to music, because I can't stand the commercials --and most of the music on the radio is dumbed down commercial crap anyway. The "public" station in Austin, KUT, is pretty good, when it isn't broadcasting NPR. These days NPR is just corporate media with fewer commercials. I'm pretty choosy about what I watch or listen to. In the car I listen either to audio books or my own music selection. I never watch TV. Gresham's Law applies to popular culture just as it does to currency.
As far as spending habits go, read Benjamin Franklin's autobiography: nothing has changed in 250 years.
As far as the house goes, I'm actually not sure what you mean.
