There must be a lot of turtles around here but I normally don't see them. Sometimes I see them in the middle of the road "running" as fast as the famous Greek tortoise. I wonder how many get run over (but while I've seen plenty of Armadillo bodies I can't say I've seen any dead turtles). I pulled over and carried this one across to, at least, temporary safety: then I took his picture (if he is a he --I have no idea how to tell the difference).

@melodee: Thanks.
Lovely shot. I think it's an HDR. Very well done right in his/her face. beautiful all over

@Amir: Thanks. I used HDR on this one in order to even out the exposure and bring out the face, which was in deep shadow from the shell.
From the colors to the expression on his (or her) face, This is superb.

@Gary: Thanks. After posting it though, I'm thinking maybe I should have cropped the top part of the image.
from a turtle's point of view... excellent shot!

@Bob: Thanks. I can't help wondering what the turtle thought about it all. He probably wasn't too happy about the experience.
Aw, 12bit, you're sweet. The turtle world thanks you.

@Carson: You need to tell my wife how sweet I am, she thinks I'm a mean old codger.
