I had a series planned for this week, but as I was unable to access this site all day long, from early morning to some time past 930 PM when I quit my intermittent attempts and watched a movie, I guess I'll just throw up a few disparate images this week. I have frequent access problems that range from server errors that cause me to lose some response I spent five minutes typing, to several hours completely without access. December 31st was the longest period of time I have been unable to access this site. Still, looking over the site it seems many people posted images on the 31st. So I ask anyone who might be viewing the photo today and reading this: did you have problems on the 31st? I'm curious to determine if the problem is geographic, limited say, to the US, or parts of the US, or more global? Or, maybe it's just me; but I seem to encounter problems with the Animus server at several different physical locations (all with strong T1 backbones) and on several different computers.

@Ina: Thanks and best wishes to you as well. I looked out the window this morning to see what was taking my dog so long and notice the pipe holding up our gate was labeled "South Africa" and it made me think of you.
Great picture... skies like this are common in Scotland too!
1400 GMT, went out to take some image before the light went on return at 1700 GMT Animus3 was down to me all through the evening. I last checked about 2330 GMT still no access. Working fine this morning!

@scotfot: Thank you. Are you posting from Afghanistan? You have a good connection there? I haven't been to Scotland in over 10 years but would like to go back.
This is awesome! It's not like I can get to see it in Singapore, I'm so envious!
happy new year!

@berlindaang: Thank you and happy new year. But why not --don't you have clouds in Singapore?
Exceptional lighting I had the same problem at the same hours as scotfot

@Pedro Sánchez: Thank you and thanks for the info.
Nice illumination... I couldn't get on the site either, likely related to some back up work or end of year tweeks. No complaints here, enjoy your new year!

@Dean Francis: Thank you and happy new year. I'm mostly interested in determining where the problem is --specifically if it is on my end or there is anything I can do to get around it. Not much to complain about with a free service (and I still don't understand the economics of this).
There's a whole with the light seeping through. I couldn't get on yesterday evening, I pre-posted the series I got on now last week. They do shut down about once a month to do some work.

@JoeB: I need to consider pre-posting, especially for weeks when I'm posting a series of related images.
Lovely lights on this one, gives it a fantastic mood. Happy 2008! (To your question - I had lots of server problems lately with the site, including on the 31st, when I was in Copenhagen...)

@bm: Thank you and happy new year. And thanks for the information --it doesn't appear a function of geography. And yeah, go ahead, rub it in that you were in Copenhagen ;)
This is 100 times better and cleaner than the one I posted in this field. Beautiful with such clarity. Bravo

@Amir: I don't know about that, but thanks. I struggled with different versions of this one, finally settling on the one without HDR processing.
Such strong and full sun rays. Powerful shot.
