My bird knowledge is small, but I believe this is a Blue Heron. I shot this with my cheapo Nikon 70-300 mm zoom lens.

@Daroru: Thanks. In retrospect I should probably have cranked up the ISO even higher. This cheapo lens produces the sharpest image with the lens stopped down to at least f8, so you either have to have it on a tripod or use a high shutter speed. 1/400 was probably right on the edge of clarity.
He really seems to blend in and able to catch a lot of fish.

@JoeB: Didn't see him catch anything (assuming it's a him, and frankly, I have no idea how to tell the difference).
