Traffic signal box covered in graffiti across the street from the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. The orange tower (lit in the school's official burnt orange color) was the site of a shooting spree in 1966. I won't mention the killer's name here, but the marksmanship of this ex-Marine is spoken about with pride to a group of Marine boots, by their drill instructor, in the movie Full Metal Jacket. The tower was closed for a long time after the killings in 1966 but I believe it has recently been reopened.

@Gary: This is actually a three exposure HDR shot processed for balance rather than effect. It's not obvious, but you can see a faint red line on the far side of the street --it's the taillight of a passing car.
The layers of graffitti is unique specially on a traffic signal box, not much is sacred. I remember the shooting spree, he was called the Texas tower sniper, it was hard to comprehend that one man was responsible for all the shootings.

@JoeB: There is a lot of graffiti in this part of Austin and a lot of bumper stickers, paste-ups of all kinds, and spray painted templates on everything from trashcans to traffic signal boxes.
The box has seen the passage of time well
