What would have happened if he didn't resign.

@Gary: Frankly, I have my doubts that being able to compare the end of the two different time lines we'd be able to tell any difference worth mentioning. But your allusion is why I took the photo in the first place. For a long time I couldn't decide if I liked the image better with or without the kids in the photo. Ultimately I decided the allusion wasn't enough --that most people, especially younger people, wouldn't get it.
beautiful!! Composition, POV, rainy atmosphere, nostalgic feel. So many things to be done between school and home.......

@the lightwriter: Thank you. It was actually not a rainy day and only moderately overcast. I think the B&W conversion is responsible for the rainy atmosphere.
Beautiful is right, 12Bit. Great use of f.g. & b.g. and I love the black & white!

@Carson: Thanks. I struggled with this one. Kids or no kids, color or no color. I liked the color in the straight shot, but the straight shot didn't work for me. I think it needed the selective focus to work, but the color didn't work with the selective focus. And what drew me to the image was the sign, but I didn't think the sign itself was enough.
It looks like it harks back to between 1968 and 1972 the emphasis on Nixon and maybe kids that could be hitchiking. The focus acts like a zoom lens deleting the rest and going for the main characters. Recently read The Secret Man by Bob Woodward, which is the story of Deep Throat the biggest political guessing game that probably existed in the Nixon administration. Funny how an image can always trigger the memory.

@JoeB: Taken in 2007. Nixon is actually the name of the town, hence the old motor court is "Nixon Court." The kids just got off the school bus. I was taking photos when the bus stopped and unloaded and decided to take a few shots with the kids in them. But yeah, the reason I was taking photos of the sign in the first place is because of the association with President Nixon, and the political interpretation of the "Nixon Court."
neat shot. great composition. the blurring feels awkward, like you're looking through a window with drops of water on it.

@danthro: Thank you. That might be a good idea to take a little further with the right image
