This is a reminder. Man's existence is but an instant in time. Man's place in the world requires constant maintenance. What we make wants to return to nature and it is in a relative hurry --a flat out sprint in the case of things like this. If all human life ceased to exist today how long would it be before the traces of humankind were obliterated by time and nature? In the scope of what has been, and what will be, it would be in but an instant.

You could also think that life's a necessity and that even dead things like that post provide place for other forms of life. Actually a consolatory thought, I think.
