This is the same set of generators as earlier in the week shot from the opposite side of the plant property. My car was in the shot and I took it out with Photoshop. The night I shot this I started from a vantage point where the car wasn't visible and I was too lazy to move it when it started to intrude. I rationalized that it was a very small part of the photo and wouldn't be distracting, but in post-processing I decided it took something away from the scene, and removed it.

this is an awesome series, the foreground is attention grabbing, it's icing on the cake, otherwise it would have been just another industrial photo. what do you say to the people in charge of these areas to get access? i've had little luck getting permission to shoot in sites like this.

@Mortola: Thanks a lot. I didn't say anything. I don't work at the power plant but I do work on the same property, so while I have been questioned by security, no one has told me not to take photos.
the blue Hour, beautiful atmosphere, great pic!

Shot at the perfect time of day and very well composed. I am enjoying your series this week!

@Shar: Thanks. The opportunities for the timing in this shot are about to expire with the end of the week --until November.
The mystery plant at the blue hour, very, very good!

You asked about the 500mm lens for Rudy the eagle. It's an old Nikon mirror lens fixed at f8. On the d300 that's 750mm plus a 1.6 old Nikon teleconverter making it 1200mm. The d300 lets you meter and the dot comes on when focus achieved. I like to d300 better than the d200 I traded in. Colors are better, plus lots of neat software features. Steve

@Steve Kravitz: Thanks for the response. Was looking at B&H and didn't see an converters for Nikon --even after market converters. I might have to look at picking up an old one.
I like the reels it adds a dimension of materials used or produced in the plant. This is the kind of shot that I refer to as the ugly/beauty shot.

This is superb. Excellent foreground interest to take you forward. Top marks if you've also magic'd away your car!

@Ted: Thanks. Sort of easy to get away with at this size. I'll see how good my Photoshop job was when I go to print this one for my office.
