Really good contrasts! Very interesting that there seems to be sort of common sense on how to design a church, including a steeple and some Gothic elements. It would also fit into a German village. How old is this building?

@MadScientist: I can't be sure without getting by this location again, but I believe it was built in 1889. That it might fit into a German village is not surprising, given the local history. There was a very large influx of German immigrants into this part of Texas back in the 19th Century. Whole communities were actually recruited in Germany and immigrants built whole towns. Here's some info on the subject related to the nearby but now non-existent town of Indianola. This Church is in Curero, one of the towns mentioned in the article.

Thanks for that link! Coincidentially, some days ago a major German news site had a report about the German linguistic enclave in Texas. There are several links to other sites, for example the German Texan Heritage Society. I didn't know that there are still German traditions - you live and learn.

@MadScientist: They even have an Oktoberfest in Texas (though perhaps not as good as the one in Munich, which I have attended), along with other German celebrations. Here you can also read about the "Verein zum Schutz deutscher Einwanderer."
