I don't know the significance of this memorial, but as a dog lover I'd like to believe it was left in honor of someone who also loved dogs.

So sweet, I guess you are right about "Dog Lover". From dust we come, To dust we go. Cemetery always wakes our inner soul and remind us to be nice and kind to one another. I love these series. Very touching indeed.

@Amir: Well, it's certainly a place where you begin to feel your own mortality. It's always disturbing to find children's graves, and as I get older, a frequently grim reminder of how fortunate many of us are to have gone on so long.
Maybe he was a dog lover - but even more touching is that he still has a family that keeps his memory.

@MadScientist: This sometimes amazes me even more than it does here. When, for instance, I encounter the decorated grave from someone who died in 1889, as I did last year. I find this particularly interesting since my own life has been with the kind of geographical continuity that could even make such devotion possible.
