@Observing: As I explained to Anthony, I altered the background color trying to salvage something from a rather harshly lit shot taken near midday, and made worse by the fact the the tree blocked light from the subjects. I thought a silhouette like image was the only way to salvage something.

@Anthony: I considered this image to be borderline salvageable. The lighting was not only harsh, due to the time of day, but the tree blocked light from the subjects --the buzzards-- which are black to begin with. The background is "photoshopped," though technically, I did it in Capture NX using a control point and selecting a color different than the natural background. I thought something close to silhouette was the only way to get anything from this image.

@Amir: Thanks. I didn't intend for it to look like this when I shot it, but though I knew the lighting was harsh due to the time of day, I hadn't picked up on how much the tree was blocking light from the subjects. It seemed a silhouette like image was the only way to go here.
