These buzzards are waiting for me to leave them the Javelina whose photo I posted on Saturday.

@QUIM: Thank you.
Super intense color and semi silhouettes, highly interesting.

@Observing: As I explained to Anthony, I altered the background color trying to salvage something from a rather harshly lit shot taken near midday, and made worse by the fact the the tree blocked light from the subjects. I thought a silhouette like image was the only way to salvage something.
Nice shot,is the background natural or "Photoshop" ??

@Anthony: I considered this image to be borderline salvageable. The lighting was not only harsh, due to the time of day, but the tree blocked light from the subjects --the buzzards-- which are black to begin with. The background is "photoshopped," though technically, I did it in Capture NX using a control point and selecting a color different than the natural background. I thought something close to silhouette was the only way to get anything from this image.
Processing well done

@Amir: Thanks. I didn't intend for it to look like this when I shot it, but though I knew the lighting was harsh due to the time of day, I hadn't picked up on how much the tree was blocking light from the subjects. It seemed a silhouette like image was the only way to go here.
good shot, great background

cool shot, especially against that bright orange background and with how the tree and birds become almost like silhouettes. makes it look sort of ominous.

@danthro: Ominous works for me. I guess I was going for a kind of African Veldt at sunset quality.
Great coloration

@Zorilla: Thanks.
I really like this. With that background this shot looks like it could be poster art from some classic 1970's B Movie!

@Julian Kilsby: Thanks. Now that you mention it, I think it does have that look.
The colour makes it look like there at the edge of hell.

@JoeB: Well, the edge of Cuero, which I suppose for some, is close to the same thing.
this would make a great movie poster for a George Romero film.

@Mortola: Just picked up his latest. It wasn't very well reviewed but I'll be checking it out anyway.
Very nice color tones!, great composition!

This looks like a book cover or an old movie poster. Uh, after reading some the other comments, I guess other people thought so, too. Great work.
