Often when I stop to take a photo, once my camera is out and I begin to look closely at the subject, I end up finding something I like better than what originally drew my eye. Here I stopped because of the brick walls and weathered painted blue doors in the background and discovered the figures of dogs atop the chain link gates. I took photos of the doors but ultimately decided I liked the dogs better. This posting begins a series of four images.
Please excuse my slow response to your comments. This is turning out to be a very busy and demanding month. I probably won't be able to look through other blogs and respond to comments until early next week.

Awesome, so much love to the detail! Well captured. (Is there a bird or dino version available?)

Curious that these little castings should grace such ordinary gates. Well spotted.

@Ronnie 2¢: These things are probably mass produced, though I can't say I've ever noticed any before. It may be that the chain link companies were offering various kinds or ornamentation at some point and most people just don't spend the extra money any more.
Nice handles and idea.
