Chat NocturnePosted by Twelvebit (Victoria, United States) on 22 May 2008 in Cityscape & Urban. I was experimenting with my D40 and couldn't make the remote work. Given the sodium vapor street lights the color was way skewed. While attempting to make a color correction it occurred to me that the relatively narrow wavelength of the illumination gave me very limited possibilities for getting natural looking results. The logical recourse was to convert to B&W and this produced a tone and atmosphere that I liked much better than anything I could get in color. BTW, don't be deceived either by this cat or other cats you might see prowling the night. This is apparently one of the genetically engineered spy cats that the government is now using to gather intel and monitor dissent (explaining why I couldn't get my remote to work --and the next time I tried, in a place where there were no cats to be seen anywhere, it worked just fine. Coincidence? I think not). Oh yeah, regarding some of my recent posts...... I thought about placing a warning after my write-ups; something to the effect of --WARNING: feeble attempt at comedy; or, watch out for life parody. However, like I mentioned to Danthro, an exchange from the movie "Patton," between the general and his adjutant, kept popping into my mind. The adjutant says: "You know General, sometimes the men can't tell when you're acting." And Patton says: "It's not important for them to know; it's only important for me to know."
