@MadScientist: Something wrong, yes and no. The mast is not damaged, it has simply been removed and placed in a storage position to minimize wind and rotational forces on the boat while it's out of the water and up on stands (or the mast was taken down for transportation). On the other hand, the boat has apparently been more or less abandoned here with no maintenance for a long period of time. It's a steel hull sailboat --relatively rare for a boat this small-- and the hull has rusted through in several spots. I have no idea whether this happened before or after the boat was pulled from the water, but I wouldn't consider it sea worthy in its present condition.

@Persian King: Actually, it's a fake HDR (single exposure) with the effect at something like 30%, and no adjustment of the second slider (can't remember the term they use for this one ---contrast?). It did strip out the camera type. I don't know why some of the exif data is intact and some not. I'd guess though, that when you use multiple images Photomatix throws out the exif data because it's different from exposure to exposure, while this being a single exposure, there were no contradictions, so it left the data intact.

@Ronnie 2¢: Especially around salt water. We had a great sail boat --40' center cockpit sloop-- that we had to get rid of when I got transferred to the Midwest. I'm back by the water now --30 minute drive-- but have yet to get another sail boat. I loved that boat, though the saying that a boat is a hole in the water you pour money into is fairly accurate. I have to rank sailing right up there with making music.
