LesliePosted by Twelvebit (Victoria, United States) on 17 July 2008 in People & Portrait and Portfolio. Austin Image 11 I fumbled on this exposure. It had gotten darker than I realized. I should have used the pop-up flash for fill light, but since I didn't, this is another very underexposed shot that I had to try and rescue with the Photoshop RAW importer. It's a mess, but I like it anyway. The subject is Leslie Cochran, said to be Austin's most famous homeless person, and the figure giving yesterday's street preachers the thumbs down. When Leslie ran for mayor of Austin in 2000 he got 8% of the vote. The unofficial Austin slogan is "Keep Austin Weird" and it's that attitude that makes Austin my favorite Texas city. It's a distinction that those doing the preaching told me they'd like to eliminate. Oh yeah, Leslie thought I was taking photos for "the Church." It's funny --sometimes anyway-- the assumptions people make about us photographers.
