Police Stop

@lisa v: I watch Australian movies like Lantana, so I'm familiar with your police uniforms. Our police generally have more of the militarized look, but it varies from place to place. In some cities in the US the police wear uniforms similar to those in your photo. In Chicago their hats look similar. However, besides the body armor, there are an unbelievable number of fat cops in the US --sometimes to the point of obesity. I don't know how some of these guys can pass a physical. I really don't get it because we have militarized police, yet when I was in the military (and I think it's still true today), you got kicked out if you were overweight.

@dj.tigersprout: Yes, they apparently have a bike cop there on 6th street.

@danthro: He was showing them some kind of paper --I can't tell if it was a ticket, vehicle title, or what. He didn't have a camera. This is kind of a touristy area in Austin though, and there were a lot of people with cameras.

@Ronnie 2¢: I was. And I use a Crumpler bag to carry my camera, which, I hope, does not say "camera" inside to most people.

@Sandy: Well, when they come for me, I'm going to kiss their ass and do whatever they tell me, and hope they let me go without taking my camera equipment.

@gbe: They were watching intently. Didn't look like the guy had done anything to me, but then, I have no way of knowing.

@Persian King: I haven't had any problems myself but a day doesn't pass that I don't read some horrible story of police misconduct.
