Macro Filter Test 4

It appears that the image quality using the +10 filter is improved at a higher shutter speed and smaller aperture. A shorter focal length also adds to the combination helping to make an improved image. Of course, f32 and 1/500 means using flash.

It seems you have found a combination to get the most out of the filter, this is a big improvement.

@Observing: It needs the smallest possible aperture and the highest possible shutter speed. Of course, that means using flash.

I kept seeing this on my thumbnail in my Favorites on VFXY and thought...ewooowe..yuk. See, I can look at snakes, but I'm scared of critters that fly. Particularly moths. They come at you from angles and hit you in the face and I just get so creeped out. I wanted you to know I'm watching your blog, so I was very brave and made this comment:-)

@sherri: Funny you mention that because when I was taking this and some of the other shots, I was standing where the outside lights were drawing hundreds of flying insects --and they were all over me. In my face, on my arms and hands, on my neck, down my shirt, in my ears, and up my nose. Snakes, on the other hand, freak me out.

You're really doing well with these filters! I like the dark colors in the picture, gives it a touch of mystery! With these small creatures you indeed need small aperture and I too sometimes need to flash them ;)
