Macro Filter Test 5
Tried some with the flash and some without, but prefer the tones and color in this one without flash. BTW, I have no idea what this flower is, so if someone like the MS knows, please do tell.

Nice Shot, I have no idea what kind that is but like how you captured this.

@LAE: Thanks.
The black background really enhances it. Have no idea of the kind.

No idea what it is, give me a better photo ;-) Just kidding, the colours are great. Seems that these filters are suitable for artistic effects but less for naturalism.

@MadScientist: Yeah, I was disappointed with the detail but as you say, they do have their uses if your intent is more abstract.
Great shot, very strong colors, dof and details.

@gbe: Now that you mention it, there may be a little bit of a Body Snatcher look here.

I agree with all of the above - brilliant colors! And I have no idea what it is.

neat dof. i thought you don't like flower shots

@danthro: Sort of surprised no one else mentioned that, but not really surprised you're the one who did. I try to stay away from them, but on this particular day I was due back at a meeting, it was during the noon hour when the light sucked, and flowers were about the only subject I could test the filters on. Let me describe my feeling about flower shots this way: I see some good ones from time to time, but I'd be very unlikely to ever hang one on a wall --mine or anyone else's. And while I may sometimes take flower shots I never take photos of sunsets --nor would I ever print one and put in on a wall.
Thanks for your message! I choose this great macro with the colours of Portugal, my country, green and red... kissis

How did you blackened the background, it's simply awesome
9 Aug 2008 10:11pm
@Persian King: It was just a product of the exposure and what was in the background, along with adjusting the shadows in Photoshop for more blacks.
