State Capital, Hartford, Connecticut

This will be my last scanned old film image for a while --a week at least. This was taken somewhere in Connecticut but the what and where has long since faded from my memory.

I looked this up instead of just guessing, and it turns out to be the State Capital building, in Hartford.

If you had'nt said I would've thought it was somewhere in Europe. Is that the moon in the upper left?Great photo, like an old postcard.

@lisa v: All the comments like yours got me wondering if I'd had another complete memory lapse. I zoomed in on the original scan to be sure and the cars in the parking lot (I cropped the bottom slightly, and a tiny bit off the left side) leave little doubt that this was taken in the US. Also, I think I can pick out the Connecticut flag in front of the building, so I'm pretty sure this is a State building, I just don't remember where.

And yes, that's the moon.

@Daryl: Well, I'd like to say moon, but really, how can I know? If you're clever enough to reach Earth in a spacecraft, I guess you might be clever enough to make us earthlings believe your ship is a moon.

Also, I think I can pick out the Connecticut flag in front of the building, so I'm pretty sure this is a State building, I just don't remember where.

Beautiful structure, reminds me of the Robber Baron era when they where designing the new Europe. It be interesting to see it today, maybe there's a Home Depot next to it now.

@JoeB: Robber Barons. At least back in those days the language was a lot more honest. Now we call them CEO's, entrepreneurs, executives --and we call "shell shock" "post traumatic dress disorder" and the "War Department" the Department of Defense.

@Illuci: Yes, the moon. I don't remember what the building was so I don't know its history, but I'd bet it was copied from some building in Europe.
