@dj.tigersprout: Should be, but I found myself paying too much attention to the rankings there, which affected my choice of photos for posting, and I didn't like the feelings it aroused, so these days, I don't look there much. I want to post what I feel like posting without being influenced by the reception.

@JoeB: I watched very little TV as a kid (don't watch any now). My father used to bring me books from the many used book stores in San Diego --a lot of stuff like The Hardy Boys when I was little.

@sherri: I'll feel lucky --I hope-- if I get to within 10 years of his age. My mother, on the other hand, is still going strong --doesn't get sick and doesn't even have high blood pressure.

@Ronnie 2¢: Don't like the War Street Journal? Chomsky says it must speak certain truths to the elites out of necessity --economic necessity being somewhat different than political necessity-- but it has never held much appeal for me. I didn't read it much even back when I was more active in "investing" --I preferred Barrons and The Economist. As my father got older he rejected more and more of what he had accepted in his youth as the "truth." They all read like propaganda to me.

@Melissa W.: Thank you. He was always leaving a pair somewhere, then having to look for them.

@danthro: That's for sure. "Investments" were sort of his hobby. He was always disappointed that I didn't have the same interest, but for me, having to manage money is a chore.
