erik tjallinks from Hurdegaryp, NetherlandsGreatly processed, and also with the cow as an extra feature! An exhibition piece. 9 Oct 2008 9:04am @erik tjallinks: Thank you. JoeB from Brampton, CanadaVibrant B&W the cow looks like it was painted on the side. 9 Oct 2008 2:15pm @JoeB: He sort of stood out. There is actually some detail available in his image but I didn't try to bring it out. Daryl from Amagasaki, JapanClassic rural American view but with a sci-fi sky! Holodeck? 9 Oct 2008 2:33pm @Daryl: And I didn't even manipulate the sky. don from spokane, United StatesI like this very pleasant looking rural scene. Windmills have always been an attraction for me. 9 Oct 2008 5:31pm @don: Thanks. We've got a new kind of windmill sprouting up in the State, though not right around here. The kind that generate 1 MW of electricity. gbe from kansas city, United Statesmy god, it's like every element of a classic american farm scene has been compacted into this photo - cow, windmill, lone tree, dirt road, barn, wooden fence, big sky... i love it! 9 Oct 2008 6:24pm @gbe: Thanks. I had a hard time deciding whether to choose the b&w version over the color, but in the end I decided the color was maybe a little too, je ne se quoi. lisa v from Gawler, AustraliaLove that title :D classic shot as everyone has said. 9 Oct 2008 7:23pm @lisa v: They might have had more than one, but if so, I didn't see it. Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomThis is the typical view that we understand as 'The American Farm' or is that a homestead ? Fantastic shot and gbe has mentioned all the reasons why ! Is that my Old Cow from yesterday :D 9 Oct 2008 9:50pm @Observing: We have a lot of gentleman farmers and ranchers around here --the kind with more stock in the bank than on the farm. This would be a ranch I guess, and making a living off a ranch these days would be a pretty hard go --impossible if you didn't inherit the land and had to buy it, since you'd probably get more return on your money at 3% than you could ever make ranching. I don't think you could buy a ranch big enough to produce an income and actually make a profit. MadScientist from Düsseldorf, GermanyI like the clouds; they add some element of drama, makes me think that there are some dark secrets at this place. 9 Oct 2008 10:17pm @MadScientist: Of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre variety? @Sammi: Thank you. @danthro: Thanks. I was driving down a rural road and only stopped for this because of the cow. bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaLove the title, the image...clever and excellent! 2 Nov 2008 3:33pm |
