@grant: I was trying out a new lens. This was my first shot, which I didn't manage to improve upon in spite of numerous attempts thereafter. Turns out the lens doesn't autofocus on a D40, and I was having a bitch of a time getting these guys in focus.

oh my red ants give me the creeps. Had a terrible attack by them as a kid. I like your picture though thats about as close as I'll get to these guys again.

@Rabbit: I laid down in the dirt with my camera lens a couple inches away trying to get a shot. They didn't bother me much.
