I hope I didn't oversell the "weird" yesterday. Perhaps what I've labeled as weird others will find merely disturbing or disgusting. A dead calf: that in itself is unusual, though perhaps not weird. People have an economic interest in cattle so you don't usually see them dead alongside a roadway. On the other hand, loose cattle incur potential liability consequences for ranchers, so perhaps "disowning" one like this --leaving it in what amounts to an illegal dump-- is not so strange. However, the dead calf and the bag hanging from the tree --that seems a little weird to me. I wanted to know what was in the bag --it was something creepy or disgusting and definitely organic-- but I didn't want to know enough to cut it open, and I couldn't tell from looking at the outside. Tomorrow: the bag.
