@MadScientist: Can't say for sure, since I don't read newspapers (especially the local one) but I think it is the policy of most American papers to shield their readers from anything disturbing --unless it serves some kind of political agenda, like "terrorism."

@JoeB: Indeed. Lone Star beer. Here, I don't think people who drink Molson or Moosehead hang animals on fences.
