Once Wild Turkey

Vehicular traffic takes a terrible toll on the local wild life. Other than this dead one, that I at first assumed to be a vulture hit while scavaging road kill, I've only see wild turkeys around here once --a flock too far away and moving too fast for me to get a photo.

@LauraS: Since I posted this I drove by another like it, confused, cared, and trying to cross the road in nearly the same location. Now I wonder if they were companions.

Too bad... it has really nice colors. I've often seen dead pheasants along the roadside, killed by fast cars.

Creepy indeed. This image has somber tone. Was his head kind of blue or is the decaying process?

@Amir: I don't think it had been dead long when I took this....probably no more than 12 hours at most, probably less. I processed this as an hdr image so the colors are more vivid than natural, but these colors are basically the colors of the bird.
