@Amir: Even in the relatively small town where I live there is a Mosque. I think these women are from the ME but I don't really know where they're from. However, looking over these shots and others taken later, I think the man in the black coat is associated with these women, a bodyguard or something. I have a friend from Lebannon who swears that Europe is far more racist than the US. Personally, I've lived all over the US, and I don't think much of the South, but Texas seems to be distinct somehow. It's not that there is no racism here but it doesn't seem to be as ingrained as it is in other parts of the South. This may partly be due to greater diversity given the large Hispanic population, mixed racial history, and the fact that Texas existed on the periphery of the South during the slave years. Anyway, though I can't exactly define it, I think there is a spirit here, and an inclination towards liberty and right living, that I haven't felt anywhere else I've lived. I'm not saying that things are dominated or defined by this spirit, merely that it exists to some degree, while it doesn't in other places, and perhaps works some small influence.
