SpiderPosted by Twelvebit (Victoria, United States) on 18 July 2009 in Animal & Insect. At the edge of a clearing I tried to get a shot of some deer in the brush and spotted an interesting squirrel just inside the tree line. Just as I crouched to take the shot the squirrel scurried out of view. I was just about to push into the woods on the trail the deer used when I noticed this guy and about 25 cubic feet of web in front of me. I haven't identified him, but I think the only native poisonous spiders around here are the Black Widow and Brown Recluse, so while this one may look ferocious, I don't think he's really anything to worry about.
